FULL-LENGTH REVIEW : Daudswiärk by Horn

Today, I began my day listening to the haunting depths of pagan black metal with the latest opus from German band Horn, entitled Daudswiärk. Active on the scene since 2002, the one-man band has just delivered its tenth album via Northern Silence Production, and let me say that the sonic experience is captivating.

From the first seconds, we're drawn in by a hypnotic and slow rhythm that at times turns into a sonic fury, creating a whirlwind of intense sensation. Melodies weave their way throughout the entire 39-minute album, where each note offers a nuanced atmosphere. Just like in the track Broth, at certain moments of the album the rhythm occasionally cedes.  While in other it becomes frenetic as in the track Dagetostaon.

The vocals are high-pitched and screaming, offering a powerful and mystical dimension to the songs. However, a passage of clear vocal is present on the track Likentog, adding a touch of clarity and poetry. All the instruments and vocals are performed by Nerrath, demonstrating his skill and talent.

Daudswiärk stands out for its diversity, offering bold compositions blending unconventional melodies and haunting atmospheres, true to the aesthetic of the german band. This full-length is a veritable odyssey where the raw black metal force meets the pagan melodies.
