Pre-release Review: “Foretaste of Justice” by Abigorum

Abigorum is a Black/Doom Metal band founded by Aleksey Korolyov in 2012 in St. Petersburg, Russia. Today, the band is based in Georgia and Germany. Their discography includes two albums: Exaltatus Mechanism, released in 2019, and Vergessene Stille, in 2021. On August 13, 2024, the band will release their third album, Foretaste of Justice. The album will be released via Satanath Records, in collaboration with Vegvisir Distribution, No Balls Records and Fetzner Death Records.

This new opus offers a new sonic experience. From the very first seconds, the rhythm is slow and dark, the melodies captivating and oppressive. Doom metal combined with elements from black metal. The album lasts 42 minutes and 50 seconds. As a whole, the album is melodic, the notes following one another to offer a coordinated, coherent musical structure. At the same time, the rhythm is not boring, as the composition is nuanced. The album's standout tracks are Mühelos in die Dunkelheit and Irgendwann ist jetzt

Moreover, even the vocals are nuanced, moving from clean vocals to black metal screams and high-pitched vocals. The vocal performance reaches its peak on the track Zeuge des Niedergangs. Female vocals are also present, as on Der Ruf der verzweiflten Berge. This combination has been carefully crafted to impart an artistic quality to Foretaste of Justice.

Abigorum's forthcoming album, Foretaste of Justice, promises a dark, atmospheric journey through a seamless blend of black and doom metal. With meticulously crafted compositions, diverse vocal ranges, this album is set to offer fans a captivating and immersive experience.
