---------------------

Swedish band Evilon, hailing from Arvika, has been a rising force in the Folk/Melodic Death Metal scene since their formation in 2015. Following their debut EP Shores of Evilon in 2017 and their first full-length album Leviathan in 2018, the band returned in 2023 with their highly second album, A Warrior’s Way. While the album was initially released in digital format, a physical version is set to drop on November 1st via the German label Fetzner Death Records.

A Nordic Atmosphere from the First Track

The 11-track album, A Warrior’s Way, runs for a total of 46 minutes and 29 seconds. From the opening track Yggdrasil, the listener is immersed in a fusion of Melodic Death Metal with folk elements, driven by powerful growls and a production that recalls genre pioneers like Amon Amarth. The influence of Scandinavian Melodic Death Metal is unmistakable, but Evilon adds its own distinct flair, blending aggression with melody in a way that sets them apart.

Songs like Walk of the Damned bring to mind bands like Ensiferum, with epic melodies and complex song structures. The album stands out for its ability to balance violent intensity with rich, melodic compositions, staying true to the essence of Scandinavian Death Metal. Notably, tracks such as Into the Battlefield feature fantastic intros that transport the listener into battle-like atmospheres.

Vocally, Jonny Sjödin delivers a nuanced performance, alternating between deep growls and higher-pitched screams. This dynamic range is particularly evident in tracks like Galdr, where his voice reaches its peak intensity. The vocal diversity keeps the listener engaged throughout, as demonstrated in Walk of the Damned, where the sharp, piercing vocals in the final moments leave a lasting impact.

Standout Tracks and Creative Depth

Among the standout tracks, A Warrior’s Way evolves with a well-crafted structure, offering epic guitar melodies and a strong vocal performance. This song perfectly captures the spirit of the album, combining emotion with force. Into the Battlefield is another highlight, incorporating Heavy Metal influences with intricate compositions and grand, intense melodies. Bolt To the Skies further showcases the creative depth of the album, with its elaborate sound and enhanced focus on the Folk Metal essence.

With A Warrior’s Way, Evilon delivers an album worthy of the Melodic Death Metal genre's finest productions. Each track is a blend of power, melody, and epic storytelling. Drawing on a range of influences while maintaining their unique identity, Evilon proves they are a band to watch. Mark your calendars for November 1st, when the physical release of this must-hear album for any Folk Metal and Dath Metal fan drops.
