The Swedish black metal project Svartlod, composed of Cantor (guitar, bass) and Preacher (vocals), recently shared their top five albums with me via message. These selections offer a glimpse into the influences and personal tastes of the duo.
1. Darghl - Kiss of the Serpent’s fangs
This one blew me away right from the start! Great riffing, overall song-writing and the vocals are brutal as F! Most played album in 2024 for me. Favorite track: Blood ov the Scarlet Eclipse
2. Deathless Void - the Voluptuos Fire Of Sin
Black/death from the abyss, really dig the vocals. Reminds me a little of Ondskapt crossed with Svartkonst. Love the cover art! Favorite track: The Shattered Realms Of Men Become The Abyss
3. Nile - The Underworld Awaits Us All
Nile rarely disappoints. Good blend of Egyptian nerdiness, heavy songs, fast and technical songs. Favorite track: True Gods Of The Desert
4. Spectral wound - songs of blood and mire
Old-school stuff! Great atmosphere. Favorite track: Aristrocratic Suicidal Black Metal
5. Gaerea - Coma
Amazing intro with The Poet’s Ballet (also one of the favorites tracks), overall really dig the guitar riffs and melody lines. Favorite track: Hope Shatters
