---------------------

Vyr Muk is a one-man band founded in 2023, and in a short space of time this prolific project has already released five EPs. Mainly centred on a theme of Russia's invasion of Ukraine (according to Metal Archives), its musical universe ventures into instrumental compositions that blend raw emotion with evocative soundscapes. Today, I'm diving into Dredmach of the Hollow Knight, his latest creation and one of the first releases I've listened to this year. Featuring six tracks totalling 19 minutes and 16 seconds, this EP, released independently in digital format.

The EP is based entirely on keyboard compositions, alternating between eerie moments, dramatic flights of fancy and mysterious soundscapes. Each track tells a story without words. From The Call of Distant Realms, we're immersed in a theatrical atmosphere where dramatic passages evoke ancient battles. Echoes of the Forgotten Keep follows with darker, more disturbing sounds. The climax of this narrative universe is undoubtedly reached in Onward to the Crimson Fields, where every note gives the impression of witnessing preparations for an epic battle. One of my favourite moments comes in Becoming Hollow, which stands out for its dark and mysterious atmosphere (I'm very used to these sounds).

With Dredmach of the Hollow Knight, Vyr Muk offers us a captivating, even if the EP is minimalist, sound universe. This new release of ambient, dark and epic music could be an excellent recording for relaxing in the evening.
