EP Review: "ReEvolution" by Enmity

Today, I’m returning with a second review of the band Enmity. A few days ago, I wrote about their debut album Demagoguery, released in 2022. Now, I’d like to talk about their latest release, the Reevolution EP, which came out last May. ReEvolution is an EP that spans nearly 11 minutes, consisting of just two tracks. Despite its brief runtime, Enmity once again delivers a fierce dose of Death Metal infused with themes of rebellion and resistance.

The compositions on this EP bring to mind the sharp, aggressive sound of Swedish Death Metal. The riffs are razor-sharp, and the drumming is relentless. The first track, Evolution of Self-destruction, hits the listener like a wall. It's fast, it's violent, and it's expertly executed. I particularly enjoyed the structure that unfolds around the three-minute mark, where the evolution of the instruments and vocals is especially striking.

The second track, ReEvolution, opens with an intro reminiscent of American band Cattle Decapitation. This similarity makes sense, as both bands tackle themes like manipulation, climate change, and evolution. However, as powerful as this EP is, it leaves you wanting more. I would have loved to hear a longer EP or even a full album that continues in the direction set by these two tracks.

In conclusion, ReEvolution is a strong statement of Enmity's potential. If this EP is any indication of where the band is headed, their future releases promise to be just as impactful, if not more so. However, a longer format would allow them to fully explore and develop the rich musical and thematic ideas they’ve only just begun to touch on here.
