Archurahl is a raw/ambient black metal solo project born in Turkey in 2021. Since its inception, Algroth, the mastermind behind the project, has continued to plunge listeners into the abyss of a dark, chaotic sonic universe. After making their mark with their first three EPs - Nihilistic Black Metal, Goadendag Injury released in 2021 and Albtraum released in 2022, Archurahl are back in 2024 with its debut album, Hysterical Abyss. These first opuses, already noted for their raw production and oppressive atmosphere, laid the foundations for a disturbing sound universe. Hysterical Abyss follows in their footsteps.

Hysterical Abyss is an uncompromising album that doesn't seek to seduce, but to hit hard. The raw production highlights the violence of the riffs and blast beats, while the muffled, howled vocals add a cavernous dimension to the whole. The compositions are long and winding, exploring the limits of the genre with boundless energy.

One of the strengths of this album lies in its contrasts. The most intense passages of raw black metal rub shoulders with more ambient interludes, creating an atmosphere that is both violent and meditative. The track Spellbound in Frost is a perfect example of this duality, transporting us from icy chaos to a hauntingly melancholic ambience.

Stand-out tracks include The Moon Weeps Blood, with its more structured songwriting, and Rage Unbound, Embrace the Pain, which offers a moment of pure sonic violence. Warfare of the Mind also stands out, with its chilling atmospheric entrance contrasting with the musical violence that follows.

Hysterical Abyss is an essential album for the most demanding raw black metal worshippers. Archurahl's dark, powerful work will leave no one indifferent. If you're looking for an intense, cathartic musical experience, then this is the album for you.

  • A dark and violent album
  • Raw, efficient production
  • Long, winding songwriting
  • Striking contrasts between raw black metal passages and ambient interludes
