COMMENT - “Abyssal Colossus’’ (Demo) by Pudrium

Algerian duo Pudrium recently released their debut demo, Abyssal Colossus, on 12 October. Abyssal Colossus invites extreme metal fans to explore a world of melodic black metal, with Swedish influences making their presence felt throughout the 10 minutes of music. The production is characterised by a raw sound.

The demo consists of five tracks, two of which are covers of the famous Swedish band Dissection: Crimson Towers and Feathers Fell. After a hard-hitting raw introduction, Terra Caprae Dominums opens with a narrative, followed by uninterrupted melodies and a change of pace that brings the initial rhythm back. The track is enhanced by moribund vocals, punctuated by a few high-pitched screams. The demo concludes with Abyssal Colossus, where the vocals stand out from the very begining. This track alternates between calm passages, accompanied by a hellish narrative, and more aggressive melodies, backed by dynamic drums (an excellent drum performance on this track)
