As the year comes to a close, I reached out to Peter Savelkoul, the mastermind behind black metal projects like Corpusculum and Wurgilnõ, to reveal his top 5 albums of the year. Here’s what he shared
01. Bad Omen (nl) - Hell Returns LP
Their combination of Black and Trash brings back some memories of the time when I first encountered Black Metal in the 80ties, a Wonderfull trip down memory lane. Favorite tracks: Back Alley Ritual & Witchcraft Cemetary
02. Nether (be) - The Blood of rats CD
A very talented Belgian outfit which made a big impression on me with this album. Amazing production and musicianship. Favorite tracks: The Dawn of Autumn & The Obelisk
03. Asgrauw (nl) - Oorsprong LP
The new Asgrauw tells about some of my favorite periods of human History. Again Asgrauw comes with an amazing album which puts them at the top of the Dutch Black Metal scene. Favorite tracks: Eridu & Kapoeres
04. Rituals for a Dead Hand (be) - The Wretched and the Vile LP
The third full-length album of this very talented Belgian outfit which I finally had the opportunity to see Live last October, actually seeing their other band Hemelbestormer and Rituals in the same weekend on two several occasions. Again a great album. Favorite tracks: Wij, hoeren van lucifer & De Gnijdige
05. On All Fours (be) - Hybris LP
A sudden appearance of this brand new Belgian band just a few weeks ago with their debut album which is a mix of Doom-Metal with some slight Black-Metal influences. An amazing female vocalist and a great concept. For fans of Wolvennest and The Devil’s Blood. Favorite tracks: Base - The Pillars & Rise - Remedy
