Album Review: "Den vrede makt" by Whoredom Rife

Norwegian Black Metal band Whoredom Rife, formed in 2014, unleashes their fourth album Den vrede makt [English for : The Wrathful Power] through the label Terratur Possessions. Following in the footstep of the previous albums, this new release offers a darker, violent soundscape. So, Whoredom Rife is solidifyng its place on the Norwegian Black Metal pantheon.

The listener is immediately plunged into a dark and oppressive sonic atmosphere, undeniable characteristic of the Norwegian band. The compositions on this album are long and complex with a raw and violent sounds that create a chaotic atmosphere. Den vrede makt has its moments of calm, only to be swept by a wave of frenetic drums and saturated, fast-picked guitars performed by Vyl. The complexity of this album can be seen in the tracks Hevnens Rett and Ravenous.

The album's lyrics are mostly in Norwegian and deal with themes related to misanthropy, hatred and destruction. For example, the last track The Beautiful End of All perfectly reflects the ideology behind Whoredome Rife's new release. With screaming and terrifying vocals, the lyrics are masterfully performed by Kjell Rambech, adding a hellish dimension to the music.

Den vrede makt is not for the faint heart, this release is dark, brutal and offers no compromise for those who don't appreciate Black Metal in its extreme and raw form. But if you're looking for an intense and distrubing listening experience, this album is for you. Here you will find the roots of the Norwegian Black Metal
